Connect Multiple Datto RMM Tenants to One IT Portal

Integration

New in IT Portal 4.6.41 · Q4 2026

Overview

Plenty of MSPs don't run just one Datto RMM tenant. Acquisitions, regional teams, separate platforms for different client groups: there are lots of good reasons to end up with several. Until now, IT Portal could only connect to one of them. Connecting a second tenant meant replacing the first.

That limit is gone. In IT Portal 4.6.41 you can connect as many Datto RMM tenants as you need to the same portal, and bring every device into one place for documentation.

How it works

The Datto RMM integration page now opens on a simple connection list. Each connection shows its name, its Datto server, whether it is enabled, and when it last synced. Add a connection, give it a name you'll recognise, enter that tenant's API key and secret, and test it, all from the same screen.

Each connection is completely self-contained:

  • Its own credentials and Datto platform.
  • Its own site mappings and device type mappings, so you decide which portal companies and sites each tenant's devices land in.
  • Its own device import, with a clear results window showing which devices were new, updated or unchanged, and the company and site each one landed in.
  • Its own sync. The scheduled sync runs every enabled connection in turn. If one tenant's API key has expired, that connection reports the problem and the others carry on as normal.

You can switch a connection on or off straight from the list. Removing one stops it syncing without deleting the devices it already brought in.

Already using Datto RMM? Nothing to redo

If you already have Datto RMM connected, the upgrade moves your existing setup into the new list as your first connection, with its credentials, mappings and devices intact. Everything keeps syncing exactly as before. You only need to visit the page when you want to add another tenant.

Why it matters

  • One portal for all your Datto tenants. No more choosing which tenant gets documented.
  • No overwriting, no cross-contamination. Devices are tied to the connection they came from, so two tenants with similar device names or IDs stay separate.
  • More resilient nightly syncs. A problem with one tenant no longer blocks the rest, and the sync log shows the result for each connection.
  • Clearer imports. Every import tells you exactly what happened and where each device went, so it's easy to confirm your mappings are right.

Getting started

Go to Admin Settings → Site Settings → Integrations and open the Datto RMM integration (still listed under its former name, Autotask Endpoint Management, or AEM). Click Add Connection, enter the new tenant's details, test the connection, then map its sites and device types. Import its devices straight away, or let the scheduled sync pick them up.
