Overview
Every IT Portal company has its own security settings. One of the most popular is Require users to have access to open objects: users can still see that a company's objects exist, but they cannot open them unless they have been given access. It is a clean way to protect sensitive clients without hiding everything from view.
The catch? It was set one company at a time. For an MSP with hundreds of customers, rolling out a security policy meant hundreds of clicks - and hoping nobody missed one.
IT Portal 4.6.41 fixes that with Bulk Company Security.
How it works
From your Companies list, open Options and choose Bulk Company Security. Then decide where the settings should apply:
- Selected companies - tick the exact companies you want in the Companies list.
- All companies - roll the policy out across your whole portal.
- By company type - target every company of a type, such as your managed customers.
Choose the settings you want, click Apply, and IT Portal shows a clear confirmation listing exactly what will be set before anything changes. Confirm, and the policy is in place across every company in scope - immediately.
The same three company settings you already know are available in bulk:
- Require users to have access to open objects
- Block all users not specified in the company security list
- Block all company users not specified in the company security list
Why it matters
- Security at MSP scale. A policy you decide on today can be applied to every customer today, not over the next few weeks.
- Consistency you can trust. One action, one result. No forgotten company quietly left open.
- Visible, not hidden. Requiring access keeps objects listed while protecting their contents - a gentler approach than hiding them entirely, and now just as easy to roll out.
- Admin-controlled and logged. Only administrators can apply bulk changes, and every bulk apply is recorded.
Getting started
Bulk Company Security is available to portal administrators from the Companies list under Options → Bulk Company Security. We suggest trying it on a couple of selected companies first and checking the result with the Test Access tool before applying it portal-wide.
