Faster Login Experience - Performance Update

Dec 10, 2025

Overview

We're excited to announce major performance improvements to the IT Portal login experience. Through modernization of our authentication infrastructure, we've reduced login times and enhanced system reliability for all users.

Availability: Beta sites are now available in all five regions (US,AU,CA,UK,EU) for testing. These beta sites are connected to your live production data, so you can use them as your primary access point until the official release. See below for beta access.

What's Changed

Lightning-Fast Login

Your login experience is now significantly faster. We've streamlined the authentication process to get you into IT Portal quickly and efficiently. What used to take several seconds now happens nearly instantly.

What you'll notice:

  • Immediate response after clicking "Login"
  • Faster navigation to your dashboard
  • Smoother transition between authentication steps

Enhanced Cloud Reliability

For cloud customers, we've improved how IT Portal handles multi-tenant environments. The system now more reliably identifies your company context during login, especially important for:

  • Custom company branding on the login page
  • Proper database routing in shared environments
  • Consistent experience across browser tabs

Improved Session Handling

We've modernized how IT Portal manages user sessions:

  • Cross-tab authentication - Log in once, and all browser tabs stay authenticated
  • Better SAML support - Smoother experience for single sign-on users
  • Smarter session management - Your session works more efficiently behind the scenes

Technical Improvements (For IT Professionals)

While these changes are largely invisible to end users, here's what we've enhanced under the hood:

Modernized Authentication Flow

  • Migrated authentication endpoints to our modern .NET Core infrastructure
  • Implemented JWT (JSON Web Token) based authentication for improved security and performance
  • Reduced the number of backend API calls during login
  • Optimized database queries for faster credential validation

Cloud Infrastructure Enhancements

  • Improved database context management for multi-tenant environments
  • Enhanced permission handling for cloud-hosted databases
  • Better error handling and logging for troubleshooting

Session Persistence

  • Updated session management to use modern web standards
  • Improved cross-tab authentication synchronization
  • Enhanced support for various authentication methods (standard, SAML, 2FA)

Security Maintained

These performance improvements maintain IT Portal's security standards:

  • All authentication checks remain in place
  • Password policies continue to be enforced
  • Two-factor authentication works seamlessly
  • Audit logging captures all login attempts
  • User permissions are validated on every request

What This Means for You

Faster Work - Spend less time waiting to log in and more time being productive

Better Experience - Smoother navigation and fewer interruptions

Greater Reliability - Enhanced infrastructure means more consistent performance

Future Ready - This modernization paves the way for additional features and improvements

Try the Beta Now

We encourage you to test these improvements before the official release. Beta sites are available in all five regions using your live production data - so you can confidently test without worrying about losing work or accessing outdated information.

Simply log in with your regular credentials and experience the faster login process firsthand.

For SAML Users

If your organization uses Single Sign-On (SAML) authentication, you'll need to set up a temporary configuration with your identity provider to test the beta site:

  1. Create a duplicate SAML application in your identity provider (Azure AD, Okta, etc.)
  2. Use identical settings to your current IT Portal SAML configuration
  3. Update the base URL to use the beta site instead:
    • Replace your current URL (e.g., https://yourcompany.itportal.com)
    • With the appropriate beta URL (e.g., https://us-beta.siportal.net)
  4. Test the login flow - Your users can authenticate through the beta site
  5. No need to remove - This is temporary and won't affect your production SAML setup

This allows you to safely test the new authentication experience while keeping your production SAML configuration unchanged.

No Action Required for Production

When this update rolls out to production, it happens automatically - there's nothing you need to do. Simply enjoy the faster login experience the next time you access IT Portal.
